kosmorro – calculate your ephemerides

Kosmorro is a program that calculates your astronomical ephemerides. It helps you to prepare your observation nights.

Using Kosmorro is as simple as invoking kosmorro in your terminal!

By default, it will give you the current Moon phase and, if any, the events that will occur today.

Kosmorro has a lot of available options to get exactly what you want, including the possibility to get planets rise and set.

This is free and open source software.

Key Features

  • Get the rise, culmination and set times of each major object of the Solar system in just one command. All you need to do is to give your coordinates either in the arguments or the environment variables.
  • Built-in PDF generator that creates fancy documents in just a few seconds. All you need is TeXLive.
  • All the calculations made by Kosmorro are made offline, right on your computer.
  • Cross-platform support – runs under Linux, macOS, and Windows.
