talking-clock – highly configurable talking clock

talking-clock is a highly configurable clock written in bash with soundpack and voice options.

talking-clock can chime and/or announce the time when called usually by cron.

This is free and open soruce software.

Key Features

  • Chime every hour, quarter, hour, or half hour.
  • Option to disable chimes.
  • Can modify cron for you.
  • Choose the voice. By default, the program uses eSpeak for the voice options. It can also use cepstral, Festival, gama_tts, rhvoice-(voicename), sam, and speech-dispatcher. There’s also a custom option.
