Memory usage

Here’s a chart shows Silverjuke’s memory usage compared to a range of other popular open source music players.

Silverjuke - memory usage

Remember that musikcube (our favorite CLI-based music player) and cmus are command-line music players. It’s therefore unsurprising their memory footprints are the leanest among the group.

Silverjuke’s memory usage is pretty conservative even among graphical music players that don’t use bloated frameworks like Electron. It’s nowhere near as frugal as Qmmp though.

Note the quoted memory usage reflects the program playing music. Silverjuke’s memory footprint is (obviously) higher when playing videos.
