rRootage – free abstract shooter game

rRootage is an arcade-style vertical shooting game, with music to match.

In this game you must avoid the barrage of bullets and destroy the enemy’s huge battleships with your laser. rRootage has 40 levels, each playable in four different modes.

It can reproduce the specific gameplay of several games such as Ikaruga, Giga Wing 2 and Psyvariar 2.

The game has not seen any recent releases (last release was back in 2004!).

Features include:

• Various game modes:
  • Normal.
  • PSY – As your ship grazes a bullet, the graze meter (displayed at the right-down corner) increases. When the graze meter becomes full, the ship becomes invincible for a while.
  • IKA – Your ship has two attributes, white and black. All bullets also have these attributes, and your ship can absorb bullets that has the same attribute.
  • GW – Your ship can use the reflector. The reflector reflects bullets around your ship.
• Binaries are available for Linux and Solaris.
