polonium is a tiling window manager for KWin.
This is free and open source software.
X11 has been briefly tested but is not officially supported.
Key Features
- Works in Wayland Plasma 5.27 and higher.
- Actual tiling backend using binary trees and decent enough code where you can mod in your own.
- Edit tile sizes with the integrated KWin GUI.
- Move and tile windows with your mouse and keyboard.
- Set layouts independently of desktop.
- Windows are automatically tiled unless the whitelist option is enabled. Windows in the blacklist will be excluded from either being tiled or not being tiled, depending on the whitelist option.
- Engines:
- BTree – Breadth-first binary tree engine, sort of balances windows.
- Half – Put one main window on the left and several on the right. Can also be the other way around.
- Three Column – Put one main window in the center and some on the left and right.
- Monocle – Place all of your windows in the center and stack them on top of each other.
- KWin – Float windows, but keep the Kwin tiling system intact so you can place them as you want and preserve their locations.
