pkexec – execute a command as another user

pkexec allows an authorized user to execute a command as another user. pkexec is provided by polkit, a toolkit for defining and handling authorizations. It is used for allowing unprivileged processes to speak to privileged processes.

If a username is not specified, then the program will be executed as the administrative super user, root.
