mongo-express provides a browser-based administration interface for MongoDB databases and compatible services. It allows developers and administrators to inspect data, organise collections and make everyday changes without working exclusively at the command line.
The application connects to one or more databases and displays their contents through a responsive interface. It is particularly useful in development environments or behind a controlled internal network, where an existing MongoDB deployment needs lightweight administrative access. Database permissions still determine what an authenticated connection can do.
Its collection viewer handles ordinary records and more complex BSON documents, including nested values and large properties. Administrators can also manage GridFS files and configure authentication for access to the web interface. Because this is an administrative tool, it should be protected from unauthorised network access.
