hledger is an elegant, versatile accounting program, for tracking money, time, or other commodities using plain text records.
It’s a fast, dependable, secure alternative to Quicken, Xero, GnuCash etc., accessible from command line, terminal or web browser. Compared to other plain text accounting tools, it’s billed as being more robust and intuitive. Good docs and real world usefulness are a top priority.
hledger is a Haskell reimplementation of the excellent ledger. It remains substantially compatible with ledger.
Key Features
- Command-line tool. Your data lives in a plain text journal file which you can edit any way you wish; hledger reads that file and produces reports of various kinds, without changing your data.
- There’s also a curses-style console interface that lets you review account balances and transactions quickly.
- Zero-setup web app for a more point-and-click experience.
- Record your transactions in a plain text file.
- Query hledger about your accounts, transactions, balances, currencies, monthly averages, budgets, and market values.
