FramR – Wayland screenshot and screen-recording utility

FramR is a Wayland screenshot and screen-recording utility with built-in annotation and upload facilities.

It can capture an entire screen, a monitor or a selected region, edit a screenshot before saving it, copy captures to the clipboard, and record video with configurable encoding. It also supports ShareX and iShare-compatible uploaders for sending captures directly to configured hosting services.

This is free and open source software.

• Draw freehand annotations, arrows, circles, rectangles and text.
• Add checkmarks, counters and highlighted regions.
• Blur or pixelate sensitive areas of a screenshot.

• Save captures to a chosen directory, reuse the last selected region, or delay capture.
• Include the mouse cursor when required.
• Record an entire screen, monitor or selected region.
• Stop recordings by invoking FramR again or set a duration for automatic stopping.
• Choose H.264, AV1 or VP9 video encoding.
• Select automatic, software, VAAPI or NVENC encoder backends.
• Configure bitrate, frame rate, keyframe interval, threads and encoder speed.
• Choose MP4, Matroska or WebM containers.
• Upload screenshots with ShareX and iShare-compatible uploader configurations.
• Import uploader definitions from local files or URLs.
• Support framr:// deeplinks for one-click uploader configuration imports.
• Create, edit, list, inspect and delete uploaders through its configuration tools.
• Choose PNG, JPEG or WebP screenshot output and configure JPEG quality.
• Upload an existing file or data read from standard input.
• Work with wlroots/scenefx compositors including Hyprland, Sway and River.
• Support KDE Plasma on Wayland.
