Easystroke Gesture Recognition

Easystroke is an open source gesture-recognition application. Gestures or strokes are movements that you make with you mouse (or your pen, finger etc.) while holding down a specific mouse button.

Easystroke will execute certain actions if it recognizes the stroke; easystroke can emulate key presses, execute shell commands, hold down modifiers and emulate a scroll wheel. The program was designed with Tablet PCs in mind and can be used effectively even without access to a keyboard.

It aims to be highly configurable while at the same time providing an intuitive user interface.

Features include:

• Create gestures with a mouse that will perform specified actions
• Set up a new gesture with just a few clicks
• Use strokes of arbitrary shape
• Advanced Gestures – click an additional button while already holding down the trigger button. Examples of advanced gestures including emulating a right-click on a tablet PC pen and Alt+Tab switching in Compiz
• Map Mouse buttons to keyboard shortcuts
• Emulate a scrollwheel
• Ignore the next stroke
• Pass the next mouse action to the application (possibly with a modifier held down, so that you can Alt-move or Alt-resize a window without a keyboard)
• Emulate an additional button that your tablet pen did not even have in the first place
• Emulate a mouse click by clicking a second button during a stroke
• Easy to set up and to configure
