Canvas – learning management system

Canvas is a modern learning management system. It includes a variety of customizable course creation and management tools, course and user analytics and statistics, and internal communication tools.

It was established in 2010 and is used in many colleges, universities, and K-12 schools.

This is free and open source software.

Features include:

  • Includes a variety of built-in course construction and management tools that can be customized to create unique and accessible teaching and learning experiences.
  • Create and share course content using Assignments, Discussions, Modules, Quizzes, and Pages.
  • Collaborative learning experience using Collaborations, Conferences, and Groups.
  • Add state and institutional learning outcomes to rubrics in order to measure and track student skill development and learning achievement. Additionally course creators can use the Course Import Tool to bulk-upload pre existing LMS course packages and/or course materials.
  • Feedback on assignment and quiz submissions using SpeedGrader and manage grade reporting in the Canvas Gradebook.
  • Interactive analytics.
  • Upload and share course information in an array of ways. And use Blueprints to push curriculum throughout your institution.
