Savage 1 – fantasy/science fiction computer game

Newerth.com has closed down for good as of the 30th of August 2022.

Savage: The Battle for Newerth is a fantasy/science fiction computer game that combines aspects of real-time strategy and first-person shooter into one game. The game takes place on Earth millions of years from now, well after the fall of all known civilization.

The goal of Savage is to destroy your opponents’ Stronghold/Lair, as this is the main point at which the Soldiers spawn (they can also spawn from garrisons/sublairs (which can be built) and spawnflags (which can not).

Savage is played online with other human players. The game has two or more teams (usually Humans vs. Beasts, but other configurations, like Human vs. Human, are also possible).

Originally released as a commercial game, S2Games have offered the game as a free download since September 2006.

Features include:

  • Supports up to 64 players.
  • Unique combination of Real Time Strategy and First Person Shooter game elements:
    • Real-Time Strategy Mode: manage your team’s resources, develop technologies, and command battles.
    • First Person Shooter: offers first or third-person view.
  • Savage Fund Enhancement – expansion package.
