TEAMGROUP T-Force G70 PRO 2TB SSD M.2 2280 NVMe Review

Summary

I’ve tested the G70 PRO in three machines running Ubuntu, CachyOS and Fedora. The drive was detected without fuss in each case, and I encountered no compatibility problems or unusual behaviour.

Performance has been excellent. KDiskMark results came close to TEAMGROUP’s advertised sequential speeds, while the 400GiB fio test averaged around 6.52GiB/s without revealing an obvious SLC-cache exhaustion point. That does not mean the cache cannot be exhausted, only that my 400GiB workload did not reach that point.

Cooling depends heavily on the host system. The graphene-equipped drive peaked at 56°C in my desktop but reached 69°C in the compact Minisforum M2, getting very close to TEAMGROUP’s specified maximum operating temperature of 70°C. Adequate M.2 cooling is therefore important for prolonged heavy workloads in compact systems.

The 2TB model also offers a strong 1,480TBW endurance rating and a five-year limited warranty subject to the applicable TBW limit. Overall, the TEAMGROUP T-FORCE G70 PRO 2TB is an excellent high-performance PCIe 4.0 SSD for a Linux desktop or workstation, provided the system gives it adequate cooling.
