TEAMGROUP is an established name in the consumer SSD market. Alongside a wide range of SSDs, its lineup includes DDR5 RAM modules, memory cards, USB drives, and peripherals. The company provided a sample of the T-FORCE G50 M.2 PCIe 4.0 1TB SSD for review and testing. The G50 is available in 512GB, 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB capacities.

The G50 sits in the mainstream PCIe 4.0 NVMe market. It’s not pitched as an ultra-premium PCIe 5.0 drive, but as a fast and affordable Gen4 SSD for desktops, laptops, mini PCs, and small form factor systems. That makes it an interesting drive for Linux users who want a sizeable speed upgrade without paying flagship money.
All of the G50 SSDs are backed by a 5-year limited warranty. The 1TB model I’m testing is rated for 650TBW endurance.
Input/output operations per second (IOPS) and throughput are important metrics for measuring SSD performance. IOPS, pronounced “eye ops,” is the measurement of the number of input/output operations a storage device can complete within a single second. Throughput measures how much data can be transferred over time, and this is where headline sequential read and write figures are quoted.
The 1TB G50 has a maximum sequential read speed of 5,000MB/s and a maximum sequential write speed of 4,800MB/s. That puts it firmly in PCIe 4.0 territory and comfortably ahead of older PCIe 3.0 NVMe drives.
The SSD uses an InnoGrit controller solution. The exact controller isn’t specified, but it’s a DRAM-less design. The G50 supports SLC caching, but unlike the G50 Pro, it doesn’t include a DRAM cache. That’s an important distinction, as DRAM-less drives can still perform very well for everyday Linux desktop use, but sustained heavy writes can expose cache limits.
The SSD uses a patented ultra-thin graphene heatsink. This is a useful design choice for laptops and mini PCs, where tall heatsinks can cause installation problems. It also keeps the drive slim enough for cramped M.2 slots, while still offering some thermal assistance.
