rirc is a lightweight terminal-based IRC client. It provides a traditional text interface for connecting to IRC servers, joining channels and exchanging messages without requiring a graphical desktop.
The application supports connections to several IRC networks simultaneously. It distinguishes between commands controlling the client itself and commands sent to an IRC server, allowing users to manage conversations and connections directly from the keyboard.
Security is an important consideration, with encrypted connections enabled by default and support for authentication using SASL. The client also implements several IRCv3 extensions, making it suitable for communicating with modern IRC networks.
