hii is a file-based IRC client. Inspired by the suckless ii client, it exposes IRC conversations through a filesystem interface rather than providing a conventional chat window.
The software was developed to overcome limitations in ii while retaining the advantages of a small, composable client. Although its directory structure resembles ii, the implementation introduces substantial changes to the underlying IRC functionality.
hii is designed to work with standard command-line tools and can be combined with external frontends such as insomnia. This separation allows users to manage persistent IRC connections independently of the programs used to read and send messages.
