Meteor is an open source platform for web, mobile, and desktop to make shipping JavaScript applications simple, efficient, and scalable.
This is a full-stack JavaScript App Platform that assembles all the pieces you need to build modern web and mobile apps, with a single JavaScript codebase. It includes a key set of technologies for building connected-client reactive applications, a build tool, and a curated set of packages from the Node.js and general JavaScript community.
Meteor is free and open source software.
Key Features
- Integrate technologies you already use. Write programs in JavaScript that send data over the wire, rather than HTML, using your choice of open source libraries. Develop in one language, JavaScript, in all environments: application server, web browser, and mobile device.
- Build apps for any device. Hot push new code without app store approval or forcing users to download a new native app. Hot code pushes are loaded by client devices, e.g. phones, in the background while the app continues to run.
- Provides full stack reactivity, allowing your UI to seamlessly reflect the true state of the world with minimal development effort.
- Integrated JavaScript stack that extends from the database to the end user’s screen.
- Out-of-the-box for MongoDB, but any database can be used.
- Cross-platform support.
