HashGarten is a graphical interface for Jacksum, bringing its extensive checksum and hashing capabilities to a desktop application. It is designed for users who want access to Jacksum without constructing commands manually, while retaining much of the flexibility offered by the underlying library.
The interface can be used as a standalone application or incorporated into a file-browser workflow. Files and directories can be dropped directly onto the application, and HashGarten exposes controls for calculation, verification, algorithm selection and related configuration. It is written in Java using the Swing toolkit and runs across major desktop operating systems.
This is free and open source software.
Key Features
- Calculates hash and checksum values for files and directories.
- Verifies files against supplied hash values.
- Offers access to hundreds of hashing and checksum algorithms provided by Jacksum.
- Supports selecting multiple algorithms for a single operation.
- Provides regular expression filtering to locate suitable algorithms.
- Displays detailed information about individual algorithms.
- Supports HMAC algorithms with configurable key type and key values.
- Accepts files and directories using drag and drop.
- Can be initialized using the same command-line options supported by Jacksum.
- Provides detailed help for configuration options.
- Offers controls for ignoring selected hash, size, or timestamp data during verification.
- Supports BubbleBabble and z-base-32 input representations.
- Provides light and dark themes.
- Supports multiple-monitor environments and an optional always-on-top window.
