EasyDict-GTK is a translator which is completely open with dictionary data too.
Currently only Czech-English and English-Czech dictionaries are available.
This is free and open source software.
Features include:
- Uses orison for a fast JSON implementation for storing dictionars.
- Use either a whole word search or a full-text
- User interface is written in PyGObject (GTK3.0).
- Application starts hidden in tray and tapping the tray brings up the main application window.
- If you have the main application window displayed, it’s displayed on top and overlays all other windows. In this mode, the app monitors the clipboard and automatically translates the words you copy into it.
- Uses shortcuts in trasnslations. For example, it distinguishes between nouns, adjectives, pronouns, numerals, verbs, adverbs, prepositions, conjunctions, and interjections. Name categories, gender, humane and social sciences, natural sciences and more can also be distinguished.
