Budgie Desktop – flagship desktop environment for Solus OS

Budgie is a desktop environment that uses GNOME technologies such as GTK+ (> 3.x) and is developed by the Solus project as well as by contributors from numerous communities such as openSUSE Tumbleweed, Arch Linux and Ubuntu Budgie.

Budgie’s design emphasizes efficiency, simplicity, elegance, and usability, especially usability for new users.

Budgie is currently based on GNOME, but Budgie 11 will be a Qt-based experience.

Features include:

• Clean and powerful desktop without unnecessary bloat.
• Raven sidebar – configure elements of the desktop without accessing settings applets.
• Applets, Budgie menu, and panels.
• Set vertical panels on the left and right sides of your display.
• Dock mode for panels, enabling you to put a dock on any side of your display.
• Animations.
• Budgie Settings application lets users manage panels, applets, and their respective settings, as well as providing us the opportunity to describe what particular settings do.
• Applet, Night Light, which can help reduce eye strain by reducing your display’s blue light by making your screen “warmer”.
