sofka – Kubernetes terminal user interface

sofka is a terminal user interface for managing Kubernetes clusters. Inspired by K9s, it provides a keyboard-driven environment for navigating cluster resources, investigating problems and performing administrative tasks without repeatedly entering kubectl commands.

The application is built using Rust, kube-rs and Ratatui. Its asynchronous architecture keeps the interface responsive while resources are monitored and information is retrieved from the Kubernetes API.

sofka is particularly useful for developers, system administrators and platform engineers working with containerised applications. It combines conventional resource management with GitOps integration, troubleshooting tools and safeguards for operations on sensitive clusters.

This is free and open source software.

Key Features

  • Browse pods, deployments, services, nodes and other Kubernetes resources.
  • Discover custom resource definitions and inspect their associated objects.
  • Monitor resource changes through asynchronous Kubernetes API watches.
  • Display CPU and memory usage for workloads, containers and nodes.
  • Search, filter and sort resources using keyboard-driven controls.
  • Inspect YAML definitions, resource descriptions, events and container logs.
  • Diagnose unhealthy workloads using evidence-based explanations and timelines.
  • Manage Flux CD reconciliations, suspensions and resumptions.
  • Control Argo CD applications and inspect their synchronisation status.
  • Inspect Helm releases, manifests, values and revision histories.
  • Scale, restart, edit and delete supported Kubernetes resources.
  • Apply bulk operations to multiple selected resources.
  • Manage background port-forwarding sessions.
  • Explore persistent volumes and transfer files between containers and local storage.
  • Open container shells and initiate debugging sessions.
  • Enforce read-only operation and configurable safeguards against destructive actions.
  • Customise resource columns, keyboard shortcuts, themes and layouts.
  • Cross-platform support – runs on Linux, macOS, and Windows.
