SNAP Engine – Earth observation processing platform

SNAP Engine is the core processing platform behind the European Space Agency’s Sentinel Application Platform (SNAP).

It provides the common infrastructure used by the Sentinel-1, Sentinel-2 and Sentinel-3 toolboxes for scientific exploitation of Earth observation data.

The project is designed as a reusable Java platform for building thematic remote-sensing toolboxes and for both research and operational processing. Its modular architecture brings together data access, raster processing, geospatial utilities, processing operators, statistics, classification and support for numerous Earth observation formats. Developers can extend the platform with additional processing modules and data readers or writers, while Maven-based builds and the modular runtime provide a foundation for larger SNAP toolboxes and specialised applications.

This is free and open source software.
