QDirStat – Qt-based directory statistics

QDirStat is an open source utility to highlight where your disk space has gone and to help you to clean it up.

Treemaps display directories and files in rectangular areas. The larger a file the larger is the rectangle which represents it. All files in one directory are painted within the rectangle of that directory. It offers a great visual way of managing your file space.

KDirStat is the predecessor to QDirStat. QDirStat is based on KDirStat, a KDE application., but without any dependencies on KDE libraries or infrastructure.

Features include:

• Fast and efficient directory reading.
• Efficient memory usage.
• Multi-selection in both the tree and the treemap.
• Hierarchical tree view that displays accumulated sums in each branch, together with a percent bar so you can see at a glimpse how the subdirectories compare with each other.
• Human readable numbers.
• Treemap display. Treemaps are a way to visualize hierarchical data structures.
• Zoom the treemap in and out.
• Unlimited number of user-defined cleanup actions.
• Show errors of cleanup actions (and their output, if desired).
• File categories (MIME types) and their treemap color are configurable.
• Exclude rules for directories are easily configurable.
• Desktop-agnostic; no longer relies on KDE or any other specific desktop.
