Postmarks – self-hosted bookmark manager and linkblog

Postmarks is a self-hosted bookmark manager and linkblog with ActivityPub support. Rather than keeping a bookmark collection isolated, it can connect to the Fediverse and interact with other Postmarks installations as well as services such as Mastodon.

The owner can add, edit and delete bookmarks through the web interface after authentication. Existing bookmarks can be imported, and a bookmarklet provides a convenient way to save new links while browsing.

ActivityPub integration gives a Postmarks site its own Fediverse presence. The instance can be configured with a username, display name, biography and avatar, allowing other Fediverse users to find and interact with its account. Mastodon profile verification is also supported.

Postmarks can be run directly with Node.js or deployed with Docker Compose. Configuration is handled through environment variables, including the public URL, administrator credentials, session secret, listening port and other instance settings.

The application uses Express for its web server and SQLite for data storage. Its deliberately personal approach makes it particularly interesting for people who want their bookmarking and link-sharing presence under their own control.

This is free and open source software.
