OpenLaszlo is an open source platform for the development and delivery of rich Internet applications.
It lets developers display them in any web browser (with Flash 7 player or higher) or deploy them as DHTML without the need for plugins.
The platform is released under the Open Source Initiative-certified Common Public License (CPL).
The OpenLaszlo platform consists of three main components:
- A compiler which takes an OpenLaszlo source files and compiles it into a Flash or DHTML file that runs in any browser.
- A Runtime Framework which includes user interface components, data binding, and network services.
- A Servlet that provides runtime support for additional media types and for SOAP and XML-RPC.
Features include:
- Write once, run anywhere allowing OpenLaszlo applications to be portable across web browsers.
- Rapid deployment to any web server.
- Flexible layouts.
- Active animations.
- Declarative LZX language.
- Supports both Flash 8,9, and 10 and DHTML runtimes.
- Based on LZX, which is an object-oriented language utilizing XML and JavaScript.
