nuclear

nuclear – desktop music player focused on free streaming

Last Updated on September 1, 2020

Other Features

Here’s a short list of other functionality that the software offers.

While the software is primarily a way to stream music over the internet, there’s support for listening to a locally stored library. Functionality is quite basic in this regard although you can define multiple folders and filter tracks.

But there are much better music players if you want to play locally stored music. Here’s my 3 recommendations: musikcube (console based), Tauon Music Box (graphical), and Cantata (graphical).

Other features of nuclear include:

  • Scrobbling to last.fm (along with updating the ‘now playing’ status).
  • Unlimited downloads (powered by YouTube).
  • Plugin section lets you define the default music source. Choose from YouTube, SoundCloud, Jamendo, or a local plugin.
  • Browsing by popularity.
  • Favorite track listing.
  • Loop after playing the last queue item.
  • Shuffle on previous track.
  • Define the number of seconds to seek forwards/backwards.
  • Set the autoradio craziness.
  • REST API to remotely control the desktop app.
  • Internationalization support – there are translations for Chinese, Danish, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Polish, Portuguese (Brazilian), Russian, Spanish, and Turkish.
