NetHogs – small ‘net top’ tool

NetHogs is a small open source ‘net top’ tool. It is top for networks.

Instead of breaking the traffic down per protocol or per subnet, like most tools do, it groups bandwidth by process.

NetHogs does not need any special kernel modules to be loaded.

Key Features

  • Shows TCP download- and upload-speed per process.
  • Quickly identifies which process is causing network traffic.
  • Supports both IPv4 and IPv6.
  • Supports both Ethernet and PPP.
  • Switch between total and kb/s mode.
  • Option to run NetHogs in promiscuous mode, so that traffic which does not pass directly through the specified interface is also counted.
  • Tracemode.
