Krokiet is a graphical application for finding duplicate files, unnecessary data and other filesystem problems. Written in Rust and using the Slint toolkit, it provides a modern interface for analysing storage and reclaiming disk space.
The application uses Czkawka Core, a multithreaded scanning engine shared with other tools in the Czkawka project. Krokiet replaces the older GTK-based Czkawka interface, offering a more consistent experience across different desktop operating systems.
Krokiet goes beyond conventional duplicate file detection. It can identify similar images, videos and music, examine files for corruption, and locate content that may be unnecessarily consuming storage.
Users can select directories to examine, configure scanning options and review results before performing file operations.
This is free and open source software.

- Identify visually similar images, including pictures with different resolutions or minor modifications.
- Detect similar videos using visual frame comparisons or audio analysis.
- Find duplicate music through metadata comparisons or audio content analysis.
- Locate empty folders, zero-byte files, temporary files and unusually large files.
- Identify invalid symbolic links pointing to missing files or directories.
- Detect broken or corrupted files and files whose extensions do not match their contents.
- Find filenames containing potentially unwanted characters.
- Remove EXIF metadata from supported image formats.
- Video optimisation tools for cropping static regions and converting videos into more efficient formats.
- Multithreaded scanning engine designed to process large collections of files efficiently.
- Caching system accelerates subsequent scans by reusing previously calculated information.
