GNUSlashLinux, codenamed Lunar Echoes, is an Arch Linux-based rolling-release distribution developed by Alien-Tec. It is aimed primarily at developers, system administrators and power users who favour a lean, keyboard-driven environment.
The distribution builds its desktop around niri, a scrolling tiling window manager for Wayland. Noctalia Shell provides the status bar, application launcher, notifications and control centre, while SDDM handles graphical login.
GNUSlashLinux combines its Arch base with modified MX tools for tasks such as installation and system snapshots. Its default software selection has a strong terminal focus, with Kitty, Helix and yazi complemented by graphical applications including Double Commander and the Chromium-based Helium Browser.

What's a Linux distribution ("distro")? |
| A distro provides the user with a desktop environment, preloaded applications, and ways to update and maintain the system. Each distro makes different choices, deciding which open source projects to install and provides custom written programs. They can have different philosophies. Some distros are intended for desktop computers, some for servers without a graphical interface, and others for special uses. Because Linux is an open source operating system, combinations of software vary between Linux distros. |
