DNGLab is a command-line utility for working with camera RAW files and Adobe Digital Negative files. Its core conversion command takes proprietary camera RAW formats and writes standards-based DNG output.
The application has grown into a broader RAW inspection and processing toolkit. It can analyse file structures and metadata, extract embedded originals from DNG files, construct DNG files from individual components and directly process sensor data.
The project still describes itself as alpha software. Camera and format support nevertheless continues to expand, including Bayer and Fujifilm X-Trans sensor processing.
This is free and open source software.

- Converts individual camera RAW files or complete directory trees to DNG.
- Supports RAW formats from Canon, Nikon, Fujifilm, Sony, Panasonic, Pentax, Olympus, Hasselblad and numerous other manufacturers.
- DNG output can use lossless JPEG compression and optionally embed the original RAW file, preview and thumbnail.
- Analyse command inspects RAW metadata and internal file structures with JSON or YAML output.
- Analysis facilities can expose RAW pixels, previews, thumbnails, checksums and 16-bit sRGB image data.
- Extract command retrieves an embedded original RAW file from a DNG container.
- Low-level DNG creation can combine RAW image data, previews, thumbnails, Exif and XMP metadata into a new file.
- Direct RAW processing includes demosaicing for Bayer and Fujifilm X-Trans sensor data.
- Can select individual images from multi-image RAW containers during conversion.
- Rawler provides the RAW decoding engine used by DNGLab and is also available as a separate Rust crate.
