bibref is a specialised research tool for identifying quotations and textual parallels between the Greek New Testament and the Septuagint, the ancient Greek translation of the Hebrew scriptures.
The program approaches this task computationally. It compares textual material across biblical books to help researchers investigate whether particular New Testament passages reuse wording found in earlier Greek scripture. This differs from ordinary Bible searches, which generally concentrate on keywords or individual verses.
bibref works with resources distributed through the CrossWire SWORD Project. It offers both a command-line interface and a Qt-based graphical frontend, providing different ways to examine and evaluate textual relationships.
This is free and open source software.
