Tobi Xu is a Debian-based Linux distribution aimed at scientists, engineers, artists, and other creative users. It combines a selection of STEM applications with software for multimedia production, graphics, music, and other creative work.
The distribution tracks Debian Sid and follows a rolling release model. It uses KDE Plasma 6 on Wayland and supplements Debian packages with software distributed through Tobi Xu’s own signed repository.
Tobi Xu provides a live environment and uses Calamares for installation. Its visual identity and desktop experience support Mexican Spanish, Mandarin Chinese, and English. The project currently provides an AMD64 image.

What's a Linux distribution ("distro")? |
| A distro provides the user with a desktop environment, preloaded applications, and ways to update and maintain the system. Each distro makes different choices, deciding which open source projects to install and provides custom written programs. They can have different philosophies. Some distros are intended for desktop computers, some for servers without a graphical interface, and others for special uses. Because Linux is an open source operating system, combinations of software vary between Linux distros. |
