Sherif is an opinionated linter designed specifically for JavaScript and TypeScript monorepos. Rather than analysing individual source-code expressions, it focuses on the structure and consistency of packages across a workspace.
The software is designed to work without an initial configuration file and supports projects managed with pnpm, npm, Yarn and Bun. It does not require node_modules to be installed merely to inspect a workspace, which helps keep checks lightweight and makes it useful in continuous integration environments.
Sherif examines package metadata and workspace definitions to identify inconsistencies that are easy to introduce as a monorepo grows. Configuration can be placed in the root package.json when projects need to modify the defaults, ignore particular packages or dependencies, or disable selected rules.
This is free and open source software.
