Best Free and Open Source Music Players

RustPlayer is a local audio player and m3u8 radio player

Summary

It’s impossible to recommend RustPlayer in its current form. The software is buggy throwing error messages into the terminal. There’s no gapless playback, and the wave animation totally ruins the interface.

Fortunately, Linux has some excellent terminal-based music players which are stable, offer better features including gapless playback. I recommend musikcube and termusic.

The splendid memory consumption tool, ps_mem reports memory usage is around 21MB which is very frugal. That’s about the only saving grace to be honest with RustPlayer.
