Open Scrobbler – web-based Last.fm scrobbling client

Open Scrobbler is a web-based client for manually submitting listening activity to Last.fm.

It is particularly useful when automatic scrobbling is not available, such as music heard on the radio, vinyl records, live performances or equipment that has no Last.fm integration.

Rather than limiting users to individual tracks, the application provides several ways to reconstruct listening activity from existing music data. It can be used from its hosted website in a browser or self-hosted, making it accessible from Linux without requiring a dedicated desktop client.

This is free and open source software.

Key Features

  • Manually scrobbles individual songs with artist, album, track and timestamp information.
  • Searches for albums and lets users select the tracks they want to submit rather than entering an entire release by hand.
  • Provides artist and album lookup workflows using music metadata sources including MusicBrainz and Discogs.
  • Can scrobble tracks taken from another Last.fm user’s listening history, with an option to retain the original date and time.
  • Integrates with Setlist.fm so live concert setlists can be located and submitted to Last.fm.
  • Supports custom timestamps, including backdating album tracks so their listening times follow naturally from the selected end time.
  • Offers multilingual localisation and preferences for time formatting and other interface behaviour.
  • Uses Last.fm authentication rather than requiring users to enter their Last.fm password directly into the application.
  • Can be run as a hosted web application or deployed on a user’s own infrastructure.
