Blunux – Arch-based Linux distribution with KDE Plasma

Blunux is an Arch-based Linux distribution designed to make Arch Linux accessible to newcomers while retaining the flexibility experienced users expect. It combines a preconfigured KDE Plasma desktop with a graphical installer and rolling software updates.

The distribution uses the Calamares installer and boots into a KDE Plasma desktop with a dark theme. Users can try the live environment before installing it to their computer.

Blunux also provides a custom ISO building system written in Julia. Users can select packages through a TOML configuration file and generate an installation image suited to their requirements. The project provides language-specific images, including English, Korean, Chinese, Swedish and Spanish.

What's a Linux distribution ("distro")?

A distro provides the user with a desktop environment, preloaded applications, and ways to update and maintain the system.

Each distro makes different choices, deciding which open source projects to install and provides custom written programs. They can have different philosophies.

Some distros are intended for desktop computers, some for servers without a graphical interface, and others for special uses. Because Linux is an open source operating system, combinations of software vary between Linux distros.
