Zerobyte is a self-hosted backup management application designed to simplify protecting files stored on servers, network shares and local systems. It uses Restic as its backup engine, providing a web interface for configuring backup jobs and managing encrypted repositories.
The application is particularly useful in self-hosting environments where data may be distributed across network storage, mounted shares and local directories. Rather than requiring individual Restic commands, users can configure repositories, select backup sources and establish recurring schedules from the browser.
Zerobyte separates backup sources from storage destinations, allowing backups to be created from different locations and sent to local or cloud repositories. Retention settings determine which snapshots are preserved, while recovery operations provide access to previously backed-up files.
This is free and open source software.
