XCircuit is a drawing application specialising in electrical circuit schematics and technical illustrations. It is designed to produce publication-quality diagrams while retaining the functionality needed for schematic capture.
The software combines precise vector drawing with facilities for organising circuit components into reusable libraries. It treats circuit designs as hierarchical structures, making it suitable for diagrams containing repeated components and complex electrical connections.
Although XCircuit can generate circuit netlists, it does not include an integrated circuit simulation engine. Its primary purpose is preparing schematics and illustrations for documentation, publication and use with external engineering tools.
