Tux Typing – educational typing program

Tux Typing is an educational typing tutor game starring Tux, the Linux penguin.

The player guides Tux to eat fish which are falling from the top of the screen. Each fish has a letter written on it. When the player presses the corresponding key, Tux will position himself to eat the fish.

The game is intended for children learning to type, though it does have higher difficulty levels which even experienced typists may find challenging.

Tux4Kids is developing a complete, graphical user interface based administration/configuration program for Tux Typing, Tux Math, and Tux Paint.

Features include:

• 2 different games for practicing your typing:
  • Fish Cascade – control Tux as he searches for fish to eat. Fish fall from the top of the screen. These fish have letters on them. Unfortunately for Tux, eating a fish with a letter on it will cause his stomach to become ill, so it is up to you to help Tux eat fish.
• • Comet Zap – control Tux as he defends the cities from comets.
• Variety of difficulty levels.
• Phrases and finger lessons.
• Lessons use XML-based scripting to run various other parts of the program in a specified order, including the “Practice” activity.
• Word list editor.
