REVIEW – I love running Linux on single board computers. And I’m unashamedly a huge fan of the Raspberry Pi range having used them since their first incarnation.
The iRasptek Raspberry Pi 5 8GB Starter Kit gives you everything you need to get started with your adventures with the Pi 5.
What’s in the box?
- Raspberry Pi 5 with 8GB RAM
- Pi 5 Metal Case
- Active Cooler
- 128GB SanDisk microSD card with the Raspberry Pi OS pre-installed
- 2x4K Micro HDMI to HDMI cables
- Card reader
- 27W USB-C Power Supply
- Quick start guide and GPIO reference card
Installation
The assembly is very straightforward. it’s just a few steps and only takes around 10 minutes. The only fiddly parts are removing the tiny plastic hat on the pins to connect the fan to the Pi board, and fitting the plastic power button cap which took a few attempts to keep it in place. The quick-start guide could be improved but as the installation process is very simple that’s not really an issue.
I’m now going to look at the main components included with the kit.
