gifski is a high-quality animated GIF encoder designed to produce smooth animations with good colour reproduction.
The software uses pngquant techniques to create efficient cross-frame palettes and applies temporal dithering. This allows individual frames to make effective use of the limited GIF colour palette while reducing the banding and other artefacts often associated with animated GIF files.
gifski can create animations from sequences of PNG images. It can also accept YUV4MPEG streams, which makes it straightforward to pipe decoded video from tools such as FFmpeg. Optional built-in video support is available when compiling with the appropriate FFmpeg components.
This is free and open source software.
