Genealogy – family tree PHP application

Genealogy is a web-based family tree application for recording family members, relationships and historical events. Developed using Laravel, it provides a browser interface for managing genealogical information within a structured database.

The application is designed around individuals and their family connections. It accommodates biological and non-biological parental relationships, partnerships, marriages, separations and multiple relationships between the same individuals. This allows users to construct family trees reflecting complicated family histories.

Genealogy includes a team-based approach to managing information. Users can collaborate within teams, with permissions controlling the activities available to individual members. This makes it suitable for family groups and researchers who want to contribute to shared records.

The software also provides tools for recording events, attaching photographs and documents, and examining ancestral and descendant relationships. Its family tree calculations use recursive database queries to improve performance when navigating complex genealogical connections.

Additional administration features include backup management, activity logging and facilities for examining application events.
