First thing you’ll want to do is sync your music library. Byte isn’t the fastest at performing this action. But it’s not an activity you’ll hopefully be doing very often. And Byte seems very prone to crashing while syncing a library.

A video is so much more revealing than screen captures. Here’s a short video showing some of the highlights of Byte including light/dark themes, repeat, shuffle, and various components of the library.

The interface is polished, easy to use, with screen estate optimized. For example, the title bar houses playback buttons, shuffle, repeat (repeat one, repeat all), and preferences.

I prefer the light theme to the dark theme as it fits in better with my colour scheme. The “Recently Added” section lists the last 100 tracks added. While a love heart appears next to each track, the love hearts don’t appear in the Library views, although you can right click on each track, and choose to love or dislike individual tracks. Tracks that you have marked ‘loved’ appear in the Favorites section.

There’s playlist support which can be sorted by album, title, play count, or recently added.
