TruFont – streamlined and hackable font editor

TruFont is a font-editing application.

The software is written with Python3, ufoLib, defcon, and PyQt5.

The software is inspired by Robofont. Unlike Robofont, it’s released under an open source license.

Key Features

  • Native UFO3 font editor.
  • Clean and easy-to-use interface.
  • Set a of Qt bindings on top of Defcon and a basic font-editor environment.
  • Open UFO files and manipulate Bézier contours, adjust spacing and metrics, and other simple tasks
  • Basic selection and drawing tools. The toolset is similar to vector-editing tools.
  • Files saved in the .UFO format: Unified Font Object, a cross-platform, cross-application, human readable, future proof format for storing font data.
  • Cross-platform support – runs under Linux, Mac OS X, and Windows.

The TruFont project uses the following libraries: booleanOperations, cu2qu, defcon, defconQt, extractor, fontttools, hsluv, ufoLib, and ufo2ft.
