TextCite – publication quotation manager

TextCite is computer software for organizing and commenting textual citations from texts (books, articles or other published works) for use in producing academic or scientific publications.

The software lets the user organize by publication, author, category, or outline. It works with bibliographic management programs such as Citation, EndNote, RefWorks, and BibTeX, providing important text and citation management capabilities that these programs lack, while still allowing for rapid footnote and bibliography generation by means of a bibliography manager. It also exports to PDF and Word (RTF) formats.

TextCite is useful in the composition of publications which depend heavily on references to other publications. For example, TextCite is especially useful in the Humanities, where publications contain dozens to hundreds of references to primary or secondary literature.

TextCite is dependent on the Java printf() package, iText, L2FProd, XStream, The Velocity Template Engine, GeoIP API, Free UCS scalable fonts, Swing Layout Extensions, Salma-Hayek Library, and Sun JavaHelp System.

Features include:

• Designed to work hand-in-hand with bibliography management programs like RefWorks, BibTeX and EndNote.
• Virtual Notecards which store the name of the publication from which the text was taken, along with a page reference, a summary title, and (if desired) the place in the publication outline where the citation is from.
• Filter by Commentary, Citation text, Summary, Author, Publication, All Text Fields.
• Export citations to Microsoft Word and to PDF.
• Export citations with reference format: Chicago style, Citation, EndNote, LaTeX, MLA, RefWorks, and Custom citations.
• Add styling to citations.
• Automatic backup creation.
• Interface Language: English, French, and Spanish.
