TechRefreshing Linux, also known as TR Linux, is a Debian-based desktop distribution designed to provide a straightforward and welcoming environment for everyday computing.
The distribution targets newcomers, people migrating from Windows, students, and users who want a desktop that requires relatively little configuration after installation. KDE Plasma is supplied with a customised layout featuring a top panel and centred application dock. The project also provides its own branding, welcome experience, recovery facilities, hardware checks, diagnostic tools, and several predefined Plasma layouts.
TR Linux uses the Calamares graphical installer and can be tested from a live environment before installation. Software is primarily managed through Debian’s APT package system, with KDE Discover providing a graphical interface. The default installation includes applications such as Firefox ESR, LibreOffice, Thunderbird, VLC, GIMP, Dolphin, and Timeshift.
The distribution is currently available for 64-bit Intel and AMD systems. Its first stable release, version 1.0, appeared in September 2026.
