Purple is a dictionary with style that enables you to obtain word definitions and synonyms quickly and easily.

It has an impressive set of features that attempt to overcome the shortcomings found in Gnome-dictionary.

This project has been replaced by Lingo.

Features include:

• Keeps track of your ten most recently searched words in the sidebar.
• Bookmarking of words.
• Intelligent search bar with automatic and real-time word suggestions as you type.
• Launch with the last word viewed already open.
• Provide results from a multi-source backend (wordnik) that pulls results from the American Heritage Dictionary, Century Dictionary, Webster’s Dictionary, and The Wikimedia Project’s Wiktionary.
• Collapsible sidebar.
