Netdeep Secure – Linux distribution focused on network security

Netdeep Secure is a Linux distribution focused on network security. It is designed as a next-generation firewall offering perimeter security, network monitoring and traffic management functionality. Configuration is performed through a web interface.

The distribution is built from scratch rather than being based on Debian, Ubuntu or another Linux distribution. Netdeep develops its own packages and repositories.

Netdeep Secure offers features including deep packet inspection, application control, web filtering, antimalware protection, SD-WAN, Network Detection and Response, VPN support and a captive portal.

The current Netdeep Secure 4 series requires a subscription to access all features and technical support.

What's a Linux distribution ("distro")?

A distro provides the user with a desktop environment, preloaded applications, and ways to update and maintain the system.

Each distro makes different choices, deciding which open source projects to install and provides custom written programs. They can have different philosophies.

Some distros are intended for desktop computers, some for servers without a graphical interface, and others for special uses. Because Linux is an open source operating system, combinations of software vary between Linux distros.
