markdownlint is a Ruby command-line tool for checking Markdown files and reporting style issues. It is separate from the Node.js project of the same name and is normally invoked with the mdl command.
The supplied rules cover common Markdown conventions without forcing every user to adopt the same style. Style files can enable, disable and configure rules, while custom rules allow projects to add their own checks.
This is free and open source software.
