LXMusic

LXMusic – music player designed for the minimalist

Last Updated on May 19, 2022

Summary

LXMusic plays music files, and that’s about it. If you’re looking for a feature-laden music player, LXMusic isn’t for you. But if you’re looking for an unobtrusive music player that’s really simple to use, and supports gapless playback, LXMusic might be all you need.

LXMusic doesn’t win the prize for the leanest graphical music player. But it’s still very lightweight. If all you want to do is listen to your FLAC / MP3 / other format music collection, you might really like LXMusic.

The software isn’t under active development. But it’s very stable in operation. And adding more features isn’t necessary for people who just want to play their music.

“The software isn’t under active development.”

Last release was lxmusic-0.4.7.tar.xz on 2016-02-21 which was almost 4 years ago.

As LXDE and its components has been superceded by LXQt and Qt based applications, it could be inferred that development of LXMusic is not just inactive but has been abandoned.

The code quality looks fairly polished and understandable. It appears like a good project for someone to takeover and continue development. I’d contribute a few commits if there’s a maintainer out there.
